This powerful documentary is about survival, resilience, and global awakening, highlighting the incredible life challenges and remarkable environmental contributions of street-connected children in Bangladesh, known locally as “Tokai” (waste collectors). Following their daily lives, Green Foot Soldiers reveals the hazardous lives these children face from an early age, their incredible resilience, and their critical role in greening the earth and contributing to environmental sustainability in urban Bangladesh—a side of the story rarely told.
Filmmaker Dr. Hasan Reza is an Associate Professor at Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) in South Bend. Dr. Reza’s scholarship focuses on the lives of the poor and socially excluded children in the Global South.
Friends of Street Children Bangladesh is a UK-registered charity started in 2017 to uplift the lives of street-connected children in Bangladesh through educational and health improvement initiatives.

The film will run for approximately 45 minutes with a discussion afterwards with filmmaker Dr. Hasan Reza, LEEDO Peace Home in Dhaka, and the Trustees of Friends of Street Children Bangladesh. Film starts at 2pm (GMT). Event runs until 3.30pm.
