During 2021 we are celebrating 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence by posting performances including songs, poems, stories, and dances on the YouTube channel we have set up for this purpose. We hope that performers will seek donations from their families, friends, colleagues and social media contacts to show appreciation for their performance and support the education, outreach and rehabilitation work that the Bangladeshi organisation Street Children LEEDO undertake on a daily basis with children surviving on the streets of Dhaka. We will provide everybody with a donation page on our fundraising site for on-line donations.

To get involved

To submit a video simply send an existing or new recording to friendsofscbd@gmail.com and we will load it onto the site. Please give your performance a title e.g.: Name of song/poem sung by/recited by your name. We will then add a brief description stating: To celebrate 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence (your name) is sharing this song/poem to raise funds to support the work of LEEDO with children who have survived on the streets in Dhaka. You can donate at (we will then insert the link to your Golden Giving page).

To set up the Golden Giving page we need a target amount that you hope to raise e.g.: £60. You may also include a photo and a short personal message to donors. We will set up the page using your first name followed by -Independence50. Please let us know if you want to use a different name.

Overall, we aim to raise £3,000 from this initiative. It will run until December 2021 and during the year we will be hosting 4 zoom events with performers and the children from LEEDO Peace Home. You may invite interested supporters and donors to take part in these events. The first will be held on Saturday 27^th March at 10.30am UK time and will celebrate Bangladesh’s declaration of independence. There will be a face book group for the event, and we will also be encouraging donations using the Friends of Street Children Bangladesh face book page.
