The UK launch of the publication The Street is Not a Home took place at the Hason Raja Centre in Whitechapel, East London on Saturday 20 May. We heard from Pia MacRae Chief Executive Officer at Consortium For Street Children, Maium Talukdar the Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Lifelong Learning at Tower Hamlets, Rubaiya Murshed the Author of Nobody’s Children, former teacher Truus Jansen, BokBok Books publisher Rumana Yasmin, Author Mike Sherriff and Illustrator Saif Osmani. The panel discussion was led by former Camden Councillor Abdul Hai OBE.
There was a live link to LEEDO’s Peace Home in Dhaka where the children performed and sang a classic Hason Raja song for the visitors and supporters who attended.
