On Saturday 29th July Friends of Street Children Bangladesh launched their first event to raise awareness and funds for the street children of Bangladesh.
The UK registered charity which was recently started by ex-charity chiefs, aims to raise funds to meet basic needs, partake in outreach and educational projects for partners like LEEDO Peace Home in Dhaka by asking people to offer their Gift Aid contributions to help their activities.
The event held off of Brick Lane in London included speeches from Mike Sherriff, ex-chief of Voluntary Action Islington, Val and Iyaz both supporters of street children and Councillor Abdul Hai (Kings Cross Ward). Filmmakers Richard and Hannan from the Rainbow Collective and Grace and Femi Owolade-Coombes who recently visited the LEEDO Peace Home showed videos of their recent activities in Bangladesh.
Over 40 visitors and well wishers enjoyed a fresh Bangladeshi buffet meal with over £500 raised during the meal. All proceeds will go to LEEDO Peace Home.
